SAVE, Society of Akumal's Vital Ecology, was founded in 1998. Mangrove damage, reduction, and degradation due to rapid tourism growth started taking place in the Riviera Maya of Mexico and it was mandatory that we take action. SAVE's mission is to keep our unique and fragile ecology safe from the dangers of unsustainable development, for the future of our children and for upcoming generations. Here at SAVE, we are focusing our efforts to stop the ecological devastation that has been underway along the Quintana Roo Coastline of the Yucatan Peninsula. The fragile ecosystem includes the spectacular water filled caves and caverns (cenotes), the thriving mangroves, the beach bluff, and the fringing reef. The current over-development is out of control, with no consideration for the future. We need to work together (concerned citizens and the government) to protect the environment. The time to act is NOW! |
SAVE Salvamento Akumal de Vida Ecologica, fue fundada en 1998. Da�o, relleno y degradaci�n al manglar ocasionado por el r�pido y desmedido crecimiento del turismo empez� a tomar lugar en la "Riviera Maya", era obligatorio para nosotros tomar acci�n. La misi�n de SAVE es mantener a salvo el ecosistema local, protegiendola de los peligros de los mega-desarrollos y la sobrexplotaci�n. Para preserbar el ambiente para las futuras generaciones. SAVE enfoca sus esfuerzos a evitar la devastaci�n del ambiente que tiene lugar en la costa del Estado Quintana Roo. Este fr�gil ecosistema formado por sistemas de r�os subterraneos (y cenotes), los manglares, playas de arena blanca y el arrecife de coral enmarcados por el por las aguas color turquesa del caribe. Hoy en d�a el desarrollo desmedido esta fuera de control. Necesitamos trabajar juntos (ciudadanos y "gobierno") para proteger el ambiente. EL TIEMPO DE ACTUAR ES AHORA! |
